I can confirm, starting your first business is like beginning a whole new career except you are your own boss. There’s no one to tell you what to do or how to do it, you’ll use google like you’ve never done before.
One of the biggest struggles I’ve been having in the next step of this entrepreneurial life is, what to do next? I’ll complete my to do list and ponder, well what now?
The feeling I am trying to explain is when you know what your end goal is but have no clue how to get there. There are times when I’m completely overwhelmed with the amount of things I need to do but also feeling so lost that I don’t know where or how to start. I’ve also noticed, a lot of things I find myself doing most days I had no idea needed to be done to begin with! This is where networking has come to save the day.
I always felt intimidated by this word ‘networking’, but it doesn’t have to be. Networking could simply be talking to those friends and family around you who may have been in a similar position to you back in the day or maybe have had more experience holding meetings for example. All these people most likely have something you can learn from even if it’s the tiniest thing. From what I know it’s best to get as much advice as you can from the get go. I myself have noticed the power of networking so much already, even though we’re still in the early stages of this journey. I am so grateful for my friends and family who have given their advice, ideas and opinions, even if it’s not something I would like to hear.
I won’t lie, I had always been hesitant to share the concept of WildCrate, even with family. Largely because I didn’t know how to explain it, but also because I didn’t want to throw this huge personal goal out into the world that could very likely fail. But as time goes on I’ve realised more good comes out of this act than bad. For sure it’s hard to do and I’ve only just begun to curate the best way to explain our business, but I can tell you, I have been surprised more than once with an amazing opportunity or idea that presented itself when I do.
Today I want to encourage you, as entrepreneurs or just in life in general, to share your journey with as many people as you can, they might just have something to share back...
With love,
Ra
